Author: Mitra Kashani

Mitra Kashani is a microbiology Master’s student at George Mason University, where she studies the environmental health impacts of illegal oil and gas wastewater spills on public lands. Aside from being a student and researcher, she is a climate organizer with the Sunrise Movement, and currently serves as the hub leader for Sunrise Movement Virginia. She’s been involved in climate and social justice activism while being a STEM student for over 4 years, with experience in university-wide and community organizing, as well as in international political spaces.
Mitra holds her hand up to her mouth like a megaphone. She's in a crowd and wearing a Sunrise shirt that says "good jobs and a livable future."
